Become a Member


Estate Planning Council of Toronto meets seven times a year, generally on the first Tuesday of the month from October through May. Our in-person meetings include cash bar during networking, wine during dinner and a 3-course meal. Our virtual meetings are held on Zoom.

There is a limit of 120 members comprised of lawyers, insurance agents, brokers, accountants, philanthropy advisors, trust officers and financial planners. Applicants require 2 years of relevant experience.

Members must be committed to the purposes of the Council, which is dedicated to continuing education and the exchange of ideas in connection with the estate planning process, to ensuring excellence of service, and to fellowship.

Membership Term

Memberships are annual and run from October 1 to September 30.

To apply for membership, please complete the Online Application form and attach your curriculum vitae and list three references. References can be from any existing member of the Estate Planning Council of Toronto.

Members MUST ATTEND four meetings each year. Should illness or other mitigating circumstances prevent a member from attending the requisite number of meetings the member should contact the Membership Chair to request an exception.

Attendance

Members and their guests must check in at every meeting attending. If a member fails to sign in, the Executive will have no record of the attendance and the member will be noted as absent.

The Arcadian Court estimates the number of dinners by a rough headcount at about 5:45p.m. Accordingly, members who arrive late cannot be guaranteed dinner service.

Guests

Guests are welcome. Please register your guest(s) by the registration deadline to ensure the proper number of meals are ordered. Kindly also provide their title and organization to facilitate a proper introduction.

The Guest Fee is $125 + HST.

Special Dietary Requirements

If a member and/or their guest has special dietary requirements, please indicate all meal preferences when registering no later than the 8 days (Tuesday) preceding the meeting date. Late requests will not be accommodated.

Members must pay a penalty of $10.00 if a cell phone goes off during a meeting. The penalty box for deposit of this amount is located at the sign-in table next to the main entrance. All amount collected in the penalty box will be donated to Sick Kids.
